Since 2009, the Cicero Volunteer Fire Department has been working on a monument to honor the men of the New York City Fire Department that were killed during the September 11th, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center. Although the monument could not be finished by the 10 Year Commemoration, a dedication ceremony was held behind Cicero Fire Station #1. Due to delays caused by Hurricane Irene, the monument was not finished until October 2011.

While a fitting memorial now stands in the Cicero Fire Department Memorial Park, behind Station #1, the members of the Cicero Fire Department have undertaken a plan to honor local heroes and families with the Memorial Brick project. The Fire Department is selling bricks to be used in the Memorial Park, with engraved names to serve as a lasting monument to your loved ones.
