I have been in EMS and a Firefighter for over 30 years starting in 1976. Starting out with Basic First-Aid and CPR and volunteering with NAVAC Ambulance in North Syracuse. I logged over 5,000 hours of active duty and since retired as a Life Member. I worked with Eastern Ambulance in Syracuse for five years as I pursued my degree in Respiratory Care. I was accepted in the original Paramedic program and graduated in the top of my class. Since then I have certifications in Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS), Basic Life Support Instructor Trainer BLS), Advance Life Support Instructor Trainer (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and NREMT - National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
I was a volunteer firefighter with South Bay, East Syracuse and then Cicero Fire Department in August 2006. I also was a member of the Onondaga County Underwater Search and Rescue Team with certifications as a Scuba Diver, Ice Rescue, Advance Scuba Diver and Technical Scuba Diving.
Since March of 1998 I have been administrating the Information Technology portion for the Fire Department. In May of 2012, I became an Employee of the Cicero Fire District with responsibilities of Installing, configuring, and support the Cicero Fire Department's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), telecommunications infrastructure, and Internet system. I also maintain the network hardware, software, planning, coordination, and implementation of network security measures, ensure network availability to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability. Design and maintains the departments website.
Courses: Firefighting Essentials, Initial Fire Attack, Emergency Vehicle Operations Course, Pump Operator, Officer Training, Truck Company Operations, Accident Victim Extrication, Training Hazardous Materials First Responder Awareness, Principles of Building Construction, and Incident Command System (ICS) – FEMA.
Positions: Lieutenant, EMS Administrator, Continuous Quality Improvement Administrator, Infection Control Officer, President, Vice President, Scuba Driver, County EMS Representative, EMS Trainer, Network Systems Administrator, and Webmaster.
Awards: 2010 CFD EMS Agency of the Year, 2008 - Chiefs Appreciation Award, 1998 - New York State Assembly Citation - North Country Storm Relief Effort, and 1984 - Recognition for Excellent Patient Care - MVA (20/20 News, Post Standard, Syracuse Fire Department, and NAVAC).
Committees: Purchasing new SCBA, EMS, By-Laws, and Computers
Projects: Implantation of Iamresponding, RedAlert, Camera System, New Telephone System with VOIP, One Call Now, Network Infrastructure, SharePoint, CFD Website including Ecommerce, and Fire Alarm System for Station #1.
Hobbies and Interests: Running, CrossFit (JULY STAR Athlete of the Month), Marathons (Adirondack, Rochester, and Philadelphia), Camping, and Scuba Diving.
